Used to own one but sold it to a friend. Decent, but the mouse wheel click had this terrible softness to it; I could barely feel when it was depressed.
It's not too expensive if I recall, so worth a look.
Here's my speculation, feel free to follow along.
It is an infrared keyboard. The cut off section is where the keyboard is projected. It will most likely track finger movements as well to make a virtual touchpad.
It is intended to be used with current and upcoming tablet PCs, and cellular devices in the high end range; internet browsing, email, editing. It stands upright, but you see it without it's stand in this image, because it would hint too much ...
